Gibson Hummingbird Special Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard, Satin Honey Burst

Gibson Hummingbird Special Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard, Satin Honey Burst

The Gibson Hummingbird Special pays tribute to the legendary square-shoulder dreadnought of the '60s, while offering players a contemporary twist. With a slightly thinner body depth and a satin honey burst finish, the Hummingbird Special is an reimaging of a fan-favorite classic.

Built in Bozeman, Montana, the dreadnought combines a solid Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides. Traditional scalloped x-style bracing supports the body, producing a warm, balanced tone suited for various playing styles. The reduced body depth compared to earlier Hummingbird models creates a tighter low end while improving comfort. Single ply cream binding frames the top and back, while the signature hummingbird pickguard completes the aesthetic.

The neck joins the body with a compound neck-to-body joint and hot hide glue, like all Gibson acoustics. With a rounded profile that feels familiar in hand, a 12-inch radius rosewood fingerboard carries the signature pearloid parallelogram inlays. Strings are loaded into the traditional belly-up rosewood bridge with TUSQ pins, then extend to the open-book headstock fitted with Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.

An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle piezo pickup amplifies the guitar, offering studio grade sound on the go. Fitted with a soundhole-mounted volume dial, output can be managed conveniently.

Included with the guitar is a premium softshell case for protection and portability. For an acoustic that honors its heritage while meeting the needs of the modern player, look no further than the Hummingbird Special.
