Gibson ES-345 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard, Vintage Burst
The Gibson ES-345 is absolutely both a classic and iconic semi-hollow electric guitar. Available today in Gibson USA's Original collection, the ES-345 sustains its legacy into the 21st century.
Way back many years ago, the ES-345 was there for the beginning of electric blues and rock and roll. Seen in the hands of such players as Freddie King, BB King, and of course The Rolling Stones, the ES-345 represents a pivotal period in western music history and is embraced to this day.
The ES-345 begins with a 3-ply Maple/Poplar/Maple body construction with a maple center block and quarter sawn Adirondack spruce bracing. For those unaware, center block construction is designed to negate feedback, especially useful in loud situations or if using copious levels of distortion. Topping off its visual sophistication is a gloss nitrocellulose finish and 3-ply cream binding.
Its mahogany neck features a Rounded "C" profile, 12" radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a modern GraphTech nut, and perhaps the most denoting feature of a 345: acrylic split parallelogram inlays. At the peghead, Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons top off its vintage-inspired aesthetic.
For electronics, the Original Collection ES-345 features a matched set of new Gibson Calibrated T-Type pickups. These 2-conductor pickups are fashioned after original Gibson T-Top pickups made from 1966 and 1979. They are unpotted and feature polysol wiring and Alnico 5 magnets, just as the originals were. The rhythm and treble pickups measure a DC resistance of 7.3K and 7.6K, respectively.
Other key features of the Gibson USA ES-345 include an aluminum ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, stop tailpiece, 5-ply black pickguard, nickel hardware, hand wired control assembly with Orange Drop capacitors, and a Gibson hardshell case.
Embracing the legacy of the past and inspiring players of today, the ES-345 is a time-honored semi-hollow Gibson guitar fueled by rock, rhythm, and jazz.
