Yamaha BBP34 4-String Electric Bass Guitar, Vintage Sunburst
Back for another day in the sun, the Yamaha BBP34 4-String Electric Bass Guitar sees a celebrated comeback. A staple in the Yamaha line since the late 1970s, the BB series of basses have been wielded by studio legend Abraham Laboriel, Mickey Waters of The Answer, Jack Gibson of Exodus, and Robby Takac of The Goo Goo Dolls to name a few. Updated and Made in Japan, the BBP34 is a fresh take on a classic.
The bass is constructed from an alder/maple/alder body that receives Yamaha's I.R.A treatment. I.R.A. or "Initial Response Acceleration" is the process in which specific vibrations are applied to the instrument during the crafting process and results in a "played in" tonal quality as if the instrument has been well loved for years. To top things off, the body is highly contoured for a comfortable fit; standing or seated positions.
A 5-piece maple/mahogany neck is connected to the body by a 6-bolt miter neck joint for a snug fit to enhance resonance and make higher frets more accessible. The neck is crowned with a rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium frets and a satin polyurethane finish on the back for smooth feel.
Electronics consist of a versatile P/J setup with a VSC7b in the bridge and VSP7n in neck. These single-coil pickups consist are made from Alnico V magnets, offering punchy and articulate amplification. Tone can be adjusted further using the neck/bridge volume controls paired with the master tone.
High quality hardware completes the setup with the inclusion of lightweight open-gear tuners, vintage plus bridge with brass saddles and steel plate with convertible stringing. Wrapped in a Vintage Sunburst finish and packed securely in a hard shell case, it's easy to why the BBP34 makes for a solid choice in the low end department.
