1965 Fender Precision Bass Guitar w/HSC, Lake Placid Blue - Used
This is a great example of a classic Fender Precision Bass. With a neck stamp dated November 5th 1965, this instrument has been gigged with for many years but retains plenty of life. The Lake Placid Blue finish is from the factory, it is not a refinish. It has been freshly set up and plays evenly across the neck. The original nut is on the instrument but is on the lower end, so someone with a heavier hand might want to eventually replace the nut. The frets are original and have life left in them, but the bass might be ready for a refret in the next few years depending on the future owner. The pickup and bridge covers are missing and do not come with the instrument, but the screw holes from them are visible.
The bass is in good condition. There is playwear all over the instrument but most notably where the previous owner rested his thumb and wore a spot above the pickup. The strap buttons have been changed. A rewire happened at some point in the 70's at Guitar Hospital, either at their Glendora, NJ location or at their Philadelphia, PA location. There is a Guitar Hospital sticker under the pickguard that shows this. The original case is long gone but there is an aftermarket molded plastic case that it comes with. The original pickguard was removed during time of rewire and replaced with a pearloid guard. The original case is included in the case, but has shrunk over time and would require redrilling if it goes back onto the instrument.
