Universal Audio Volt 476 Recording Studio Audio Interface w/ Software Suite
The Universal Audio Volt 476 Recording Studio delivers 4-in/4-out flexibility, clean 24-bit/192 kHz conversion, and UA’s analog seasoning on demand so small studios can track bands, podcasts, and synth rigs without re-patching. The front end combines two XLR combo mic/line/Hi-Z inputs with switchable Vintage mic mode that echoes the 610 tube preamp’s harmonic profile. Across inputs 1–2, the analog 76 Compressor adds musical dynamics control with preset voicings tailored for vocals, guitars, and fast peak catching. Inputs 3–4 arrive as dedicated balanced line inputs for stereo synths, drum machines, or an outboard preamp you already trust.
I/O is arranged for repeatable daily use. Four balanced line outputs cover main monitors on 1–2 and a second pair on 3–4 for alternate speakers, hardware sends, or reamp paths. Dual headphone outputs with independent level control make it easy to run separate cue mixes for an artist and an engineer. MIDI In/Out on the rear panel keeps keyboards and drum machines talking without another USB dongle. Hardware direct monitoring blends live input with DAW return for near-zero-latency tracking, and large Monitor and Phones knobs keep level changes obvious in low light.
The workflow is intentionally simple. Leave Vintage off for a transparent, plug-in-friendly path, or enable it when a voice or DI bass needs gentle forward mids and smoother transients. Engage the 76 Compressor when you want steadier levels going to disk without fighting thresholds in a plug-in. USB-C bus power keeps mobile rigs tidy; optional external power is available when peripherals draw more current. The metal chassis with wood side panels survives backpacks, desktops, and the occasional on-location sprint.
The Volt 476 earns its rack space on a very crowded desk.
