MXR Jail Guitar Doors Overdrive Effect Pedal
Right now, right now, it's time to kick out the jams (brothers and sisters) with the MXR Jail Guitar Doors Overdrive. This limited-edition drive, brought about by MXR, Johnny Gator, and Jail Guitar Doors USA, summons the belligerent tones of MC5's Wayne Kramer in tribute to the iconic guitar player.
There's little chance that you'll come across a garage punk guitarist that Wayne Kramer has not influenced. Made famous for his guitarwork in MC5's early '70s recordings, Kramer's legacy has endured through both his influence on six strings and the impact by his and his wife Margaret's non-profit organization Jail Guitar Doors USA. The organization, based around helping incarcerated individuals heal through music, works in over two hundred facilities nationwide along with their youth-driven C.A.P.O. Center in Los Angeles to aid impacted young people through personal expression.
Today's MXR Jail Guitar Doors Overdrive is the product of the effect wisdom of Johnny Wator of Daredevil Pedals, himself a student of Kramer's work. The Jail Guitar Doors emulates the sound of two maxed-out one-hundred-watt amp stacks by a combination of circuitry from Daredevil's Drive-Bi Dual Gain Distortion and the MXR Micro Amp boost. A single knob controls the outputs of both circuits as one gain stage cascades into another with its EQ range playing with a wide and balanced response no matter where you land on the dial. Cut through a live mix with formidable roar and harmonics to play aggressively and break the mold in every situation.
The MXR Jail Guitar Doors features custom artwork by street art pioneer Shepard Fairey. Limited to five hundred pieces worldwide, the majority of proceeds from sales will go to Jail Guitar Doors USA.
As a fitting tribute to one of protopunk's premier guitarists, the MXR Jail Guitar Doors Overdrive gleefully tears down the walls for a great cause.
