Originally hitting the market in the 1950s under the moniker of the Buddy Rich Model Snare Drum, the Legacy Mahogany Jazz Fest Snare Drum underwent its first metamorphosis in the early 1960s, emerging as a 5.5" depth snare. It is distinguished by a 3-ply Legacy Mahogany shell, a vintage '64 snare bed, 8 twin lugs, a 3-step baseball bat tone-control, and an interior adorned with the classic white "Reso-Coat". This drum is as versatile as they come, allowing users to achieve a muted and more "splatty" sounding tone, or one with more ring and character with a simple adjustment of the baseball bat lug damper or the use of a dampening applicator.
