Gretsch Electromatic John Gourley Broadkaster, Laurel Fingerboard, Iridescent Black
Known for his work with Grammy winning Portugal, The Man, Gretsch now carries this Limited Edition John Gourley Electromatic Broadkaster. This semi-hollow guitar boasts a classic Gretsch body design featuring a double-cutaway arched maple body with a chambered spruce center block. The chambered spruce center block enhances sustain while minimizing feedback, ensuring an articulate sound even at high volumes. The body is surrounded with silver sparkle binding, and features a gorgeous Iridescent Black finish, with sparkles adding depth to its character. The pickguard features custom art by Cleon Peterson.
Sharing the same finish as the body, the maple neck of the John Gourley Electromatic Broadkaster is carved to a thin "U" profile, offering a comfy grip that fits snugly in the palm, making maneuverability a key feature of this instrument. On the neck, a darker colored laurel fingerboard with a 12" radius features 22 Medium Jumbo frets and Gretsch's unique pearloid "cloud" inlays, a favorite of ours here at Russo Music. The headstock, also topped with silver sparkle binding to match the body, is topped with die-cast sealed locking tuners.
Gretsch USA Full'Tron humbucking pickups, specifically selected by Gourley himself, live under the hood of this guitar in the neck and bridge positions. Engineered by pickup designer Tim Shaw, these pickups offer a full-spectrum tonal range, from sparkling cleans to aggressive overdriven tones. The electronics configuration includes master volume and tone controls, along with individual pickup volume controls and a three-position pickup selector switch, providing players with versatile tone-shaping capabilities and effortless sonic versatility.
In the hardware department, a bridge system features an anchored Adjusto-Matic design, providing precise intonation adjustment and enhanced sustain. Completing the hardware ensemble is the Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece, offering smooth pitch modulation and vintage-inspired tremolo effects.
