Gibson SJ-200 Standard Rosewood Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Rosewood Burst
Throwing back to the original "King of the Flat-Tops," the Gibson SJ-200 Standard Rosewood is an authentic homage to Gibson's tradition as a premier acoustic guitar maker. This king-sized acoustic commands a stage while remaining approachable and thoroughly musical for all players. In short, there's little like it.
Today's SJ-200 Standard Rosewood hearkens to Gibson's earliest builds of the model. Originally crafted with rosewood before pivoting to maple, the SJ-200 played with a distinct rosewood flavor. With this modern model, Gibson returns to its rosewood roots for the SJ-200 to make something definitively vintage but undeniably new. The SJ-200 Standard Rosewood comes together with a Sitka spruce top and – you guessed it – rosewood back and sides. Traditional hand-scalloped braces in an "X" pattern line the Sitka top for a balanced and precise tonal voice. A gloss finish and multi-ply top and back binding wrap the Jumbo-style body for that added visual element.
From here, the SJ-200 Standard Rosewood features a mahogany neck shaped in a Round profile. Offering a solid yet smoothly playable grip in hand, this neck is joined by an Indian rosewood fingerboard bearing twenty Standard frets. Playability is paramount with this large-bodied acoustic as it inspires long playing sessions across its full 25.5" scale length. Mother of Pearl graduated crown inlays line the rosewood, stacking up for a great aesthetic element.
The hardware setup on the SJ-200 Standard Rosewood also offers plenty to write home about. Grover Imperial tuning machines and a rosewood SJ-200 Moustache bridge ground strings at the each end of the scale for stability and fluidity. Tying everything together are the SJ-200's hot hide glue construction and L.R. Baggs Anthem piezo electronics. Ensuring a seamless transition from acoustic to amplified performance, this L.R. Baggs setup is perfect for stage-ready players itching to perform. A Gibson hardshell case travels with this SJ-200 Standard for safety and security.
As one of Gibson's most regal acoustics, the SJ-200 Standard Rosewood captures generations of Jumbo-bodied spirit for the players of today. Hail to the king, baby.
