Gibson J-45 Special Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Rosewood Fingerboard, Satin Natural
Handcrafted by our friends in Bozeman, Montana, we welcome the Gibson J-45 Special in an all new Satin Natural finish for 2026. What makes the J-45 Special so special? Its ability to offer players the iconic round-shoulder sound with modern construction. Impressively built and affordably priced, let's unpack what makes this dreadnought great.
Crafted using the same tonewoods as its vintage counter-part, the J-45 pairs a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides to deliver a warm, balanced tone. Underneath the top, scalloped x-bracing has been expertly placed to tighten up bass response while allowing the top to vibrate more, adding to the deep, loud sound dreadnoughts are known for. The body on the J-45 Special features a slighty thinner "concert depth" body to make the guitar more comfortable to hold for longer play sessions.
A utile neck is attached to the body with a compound dovetail joint and is glued in place using hot hide glue. The neck profile features an easy going SlimTaper profile. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays and 20 standard frets. Strings in are loaded in the rosewood bridge and are capped with TUSQ end pins before making their way to the Grover Rotomatic tuners located on the open book headstock.
Complete with a L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle piezo pickup for amplication on the go and housed in a premium softshell case, the J-45 Special is an instrument ready to inspire in the studio, at home, or on the go.
