Gibson Custom Shop 1942 LG-2 AJ Acoustic-Electric Guitar, VOS 1930s Burst
Fresh in from the master craftspeople at Gibson Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana we have this 1942 LG-2 AJ finished in VOS 1930s Burst. As part of the Gibson Custom Shop Greatest Hits Collection, this limited edition model merges both the LG-2 and Advanced Jumbo models, offering a unique instrument in both sound in aesthetics.
Gibson's faithful recreation of the '42 LG-2 features historically accurate construction and tonewoods. The guitar's top is crafted from thermally aged red spruce and is paired with mahogany back and sides. Red spruce offers a bright and punchy tonal profile with plenty of volume with the mahogany mellows things out with a sweet, warm tone. The body is supported by traditional scalloped x-bracing. It's smaller body shape and depth lends itself to being versatile enough for both strumming and fingerstyle. The body is accented with binding around the top and back and a tortoiseshell pickguard.
Taking inspiration from the Advanced Jumbo, this parlor guitar spots a chunky mahogany neck with mother of pearl arrow inlays. Attached to the body in a traditional set-neck fashion with hot hide glue, the rounded neck features a rosewood fingerboard, 12-inch radius, and 19 frets for easy playing. The traditional open-book headstock displays the Advanced Jumbo inlay as well as a script Gibson logo.
Strings are loaded into the rosewood bridge and are strung to pitch with the three-on-a-plate open gear tuners with white buttons. The fit and finish on this '42 LG-2 is immaculate. The entire instrument sports an ultra-thin VOS finish to promote resonation. An L.R. Baggs VTC electronics system provides studio grade amplification on the go with soundhole-mounted controls. The guitar comes complete with a hardshell case for storage.
Whether you're strumming or playing fingerstyle, the 1942 LG-2 AJ offers a unique one of a kind experience perfect for studio, stage, or the couch.
