Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, Murphy Lab Light Aged BOTB Page 78
Given that 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standards are one of the most sought after vintage guitars of all time, its only fitting we're offering this limited run reissue from the Gibson Custom Shop. Inspired by Yasuhiko Iwanade's "Beauty of the Burst" book, this Les Paul is inspired and expertly crafted in Nashville, TN to resemble example on page 78.
This BOTB started out as a blank slab of mahogany before being cut into the iconic single-cutaway silhouette. From there, a hand-selected AAA flame maple top enters the equation to brighten things up both sonically and visually. The top on this example is stunning: tight, flame patterns that look good from every angle. Thanks to the light ageing process this instrument received the plastics and binding around the top shows patina that clashes wonderfully with the double white uncovered humbuckers for a unique look.
Attached to the body in a traditional hide glue set-neck design rests a mahogany neck. The mahogany neck features a '59 medium C profile that can only be described as "just right" in the hands. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard with cellulose trapezoid inlays and 22 frets.
True to page 78, this Les Paul Standard features 2 double white uncovered, unpotted Gibson Custombuckers in both the neck and bridge positions. The Custombuckers offer true histortic P.A.F tone with plenty of dynamics, warmth, and sonic character. Its voice can be further refined using the volume and tone controls with the 3-way pickup selector switch.
Strings are feed through the stop bar tailpiece and innovative ARB-1 bridge before making their way to the nylon nut and being strung to pitch with the Kluson tuning machines. From the hardware, plastics, and silk screen printing, every details has been meticulously recreated to be as original to a vintage 1959. With Gibson's Murphy Lab Light Ageing, hardware patina, finish checking, and small dings/signs of wear offer a vintage "broken in" look and feel.
Paired with a Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, this Beauty of the Burst is a true recreation of an iconic instrument and is ready to be played for another 60 plus years.
