Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition NAMM '62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Electric Guitar, Black
For everyone's favorite globally-reaching musical instrument retailer convention, we have this Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition NAMM '62 Stratocaster Heavy Relic in a slick Black lacquer finish. This limited edition model – crafted by the Fender Custom Shop specifically for Anaheim, California's annual NAMM Show, this '62 Strat assembles with some killer vintage-inspired stylings, dynamic electronics, and plenty more to tie it all together.
Kicking this all off, this Fender Custom Shop '62 Stratocaster begins with a two-piece alder body. This body, sorted for weight, was specially picked by a Custom Shop builder for being the lightest body among the lot during construction. Its sorted for weight quality couples with the natural resonance of the tonewood to make for a highly expressive base off which the rest of the Custom Shop experience can spring. This cut of alder is decked in a black Fender Thin Skin lacquer finish that creates a more worn-down aesthetic and touch off the bat. From here, its lacquer finish is hit with the Fender Custom Shop's Heavy Relic finish wear treatment that introduces plenty of tasteful chips, scrapes, and gives great opportunity for the alder to shine through underneath.
This limited Fender Custom at this point introduces a 5/4 quartersawn maple neck in a 60 Style Oval "C" profile. A high-quality cut of maple with a highly popular profile among Custom Shop guitars, this neck slips seamlessly into hand and measures with a slimmer .790" thickness measurement at the first fret and a .930" measurement at the twelfth. Flat lam nine millimeter AAA rosewood lands with this guitar as its fingerboard. Lined with twenty-one 6105 Narrow Tall frets, this fingerboard also plays into more popular Fender Custom Shop trends for a slightly thinner and higher fretting experience across a modern-feeling 9.5" radius. Micarta White facedots punctuate the rosewood as fret inlays.
This Fender Custom Shop features an expressive suite of electronics to get on a stage and make a statement. Three hand-wound 60/63 Strat single-coils land in the neck, bridge, and middle positions with the middle pickup being reverse-wound, reverse-polarity for added tonal nuance. These three pickups summon an authentic '60s Strat tone just like mom used to make. Its voice is then harnessed through Vintage Modified Strat #2 wiring with a Tone Saver bleed to retain signal clarity at any setting on the 250K 10% split taper spots. These pickups are fitted with Fender Vintage White pickup covers for an added element of age.
This Strat's hardware specs also offer plenty to write home about. For its strings, this NAMM Strat features an American Vintage Strat tremolo bridge with Vintage-Style tuning machines and a bone nut. This NAMM limited model is treated to a limited edition headstock decal and neck plate and travels with an included Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele Brown hardshell case.
