Fender Custom Shop '63 Telecaster Relic Electric Guitar, Aged Fiesta Red

Fender Custom Shop '63 Telecaster Relic Electric Guitar, Aged Fiesta Red

The Fender Custom Shop '63 Telecaster Relic reimagines one of the most sought-after Telecaster designs from Fender’s golden era. The year 1963 marked the peak of the model’s refinement, where small but impactful evolutions resulted in one of the most balanced and reliable platforms in electric guitar history. This Custom Shop interpretation captures that legacy with precision—melding classic tonewoods, hand-wound pickups, and expert relic aging into a single, high-performance instrument.

Constructed from alder that’s been carefully sorted for both weight and tonal resonance, the body delivers the signature midrange clarity and tight low-end response that defined early-'60s Fender builds. The neck is one solid piece of maple carved into a 1960-style Oval “C” profile, offering a versatile, medium-depth feel that stays comfortable whether comping or lead playing. A AAA-grade rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5" radius and narrow tall 6105 frets provide a modern playing surface that supports expressive bends and quick runs without sacrificing the feel of a vintage neck. Clay dot inlays add a historically accurate visual detail.

For the electronics, the pairing of a hand-wound Twisted Tele bridge pickup and a hand-wound Original Blackguard in the neck offers a compelling tonal range—from focused, high-output bite to round, articulate warmth. The 3-way selector is wired with Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit, allowing high-end roll-off without muddying the low frequencies. A traditional 58–63 Tele bridge and vintage-style tuning machines round out the hardware for accurate pitch and smooth response.

Wrapped in Aged Fiesta Red nitrocellulose lacquer and finished with tasteful relic wear, this Telecaster pays homage to a road-worn original without veering into caricature. Included is a Custom Shop black case. Built by some of the most capable luthiers in the Fender Custom Shop, this '63 Relic blends historical fidelity and modern engineering in a guitar that earns its spot in any serious collection.
