Toca's Origins Series djembes recreate the instrument the way they were first made in Africa. The mahogany shell is carved from a single piece of wood using a lathe to maintain uniform thickness, with a purposefully rough interior to help eliminate unwanted overtones. Each authentic goatskin head is also hand-picked. Finally, each drum features hand carved bearing edges and exterior designs. These drums are rope tuned, as they have been for thousands of years.
